The first thing that must be taken into account to obtain a class B driver’s license in Spain are the minimum requirements necessary to be able to start the processing of your license spanish driving licence in english. Once you meet the requirements you can start the process of Spanish driving test in English.
Requirements to process the class B driving license:
– Be a Spanish resident.
– Be of the required age (the minimum age to obtain the card is 18 years old; however, at 17 years old you can start the process with theoretical and practical classes and, three months before turning 18 years old, it is possible to take the exam driving theory of the DGT).
– Have the required psychophysical skills.
– Be declared fit by the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of the town where it is examined in the theoretical and practical tests.
It is important to know that the total process to obtain a Spanish driver’s license will take approximately 6-7 months and the average cost (depending on the region) will be about 720 euros. So you have to prepare financially as well as have enough time for preparation.
Manuals, books, videos or online tutorials to study are not enough to learn the whole theory. Before deciding to take the driving test, it is recommended to do at least one full cycle of theory classes. This means that it does not matter to start with an agenda that is already halfway through. You can start your classes with an agenda that has already been started and continue the entire cycle until you reach the same point where you started.
Take the DGT exams as a test
The DGT has question-and-answer exams available. In the exams section you can find them. Hopefully, you will also be able to take these exams at your driving school since, in some of them, there are computers available with all the DGT exams for you to practice when you go.
With these mock exams offered by the DGT, you will be better able to get a better idea of whether you are ready to take the theoretical driving test or if you still need to study a little more.
Once you feel ready, you can take the theoretical driving test.
Normally, the exams are carried out in an evaluation center of the DGT. The cost of the transfer to the exam will most likely be included in the fee you have paid.
The test consists of 30 questions of which, at least, you must get 27 right. With 4 failures the DGT theoretical exam is suspended, but you can repeat it one more time without any additional cost. In case of failing the theoretical driving test twice, then you will have to pay the fees again.
If you pass the theoretical driving test, it is time to move on to the part that students most crave: Practice!
